The End Of The Internet In The UK???
Theresa May has has outlined plans to seriously change the Internet in the UK, allowing the government to decide what is said online and bringing about the end of the Internet in the UK
I do not usually post anything that could be considered Party Political but the latest news that I have come across has caused me to feel the need to make an exception in this case.
The plans also include the censoring of news and a tax on Internet Companies. The money will be used to pay for advertising schemes to tell people about the dangers of the internet, in particular being used to “support awareness and preventative activity to counter internet harms”.
These plans, if brought into law, would mean the end of the Internet as we know it and the end of online free speech.
I believe that the world is a better place with the Internet and it is worth protecting. Existing laws relating to hate speech, bullying, stalking, grooming of children and many other things already mean that people engaging in illegal activity online can be prosecuted and the content can then be removed via a court order.
If you know of any petitions or groups that are campaigning against this proposed legislation, please post the information in the comments below.
