Trend AV Security – Done Wrong!
TrendMicro’s antivirus software for Windows has MAJOR problems with it’s claimed security. A researcher from Google has been looking at the code and has been in contact with TrendMicro about the problems that allow remote code execution on users computers.
Remote Code Execution is the ability of a remote computer or website to run programmes and commands on your system. Some of the commands they allow to be run includebrowserPasswordExport, exportBrowserPassword & getUserData. These commands would allow an attacker to cause the computer to send out the encrypted list of stored passwords fromm the browser AND send out the encryption Key. That allows the attacker to decrypt the entire list of the users usernames and passwords and which websites they are used on.
If you have Trend Antivirus on your system, I would recommend getting an alternative antivirus programme, such as Microsoft Security Essentials (for windows 7 & Vista) or use the built in Windows Defender (for Windows 8 or 10). Remember, once you have downloaded the new antivirus you must remove Trend AV and restart the computer before you install or turn on the replacement.
